Born and raised in Ticonderoga and will always consider it home. (Just happen to live in Houston right now.) Purchased "Adirondack Detective" and "Adirondack Detective Returns" ... loved both so have ordered three more of John Briant's books. Can't wait to receive them. Love your website and will be ordering some North Country books for relatives as Christmas presents.

Greetings all...
Spent many summers as a boy(up until 1968)on Lake Chateaugay and remember many of the neighbours.
At the time the Dowds, daughter Donna, sons Billy and ????
The Kaskas, son Jonny Joe???
Henry and Silvia Yersh from Montreal were on another side.
Plan to visit the lake this summer possibly and if anyone would like to email me, feel free.
Funny what the mind remembers..cottages just painted and then covered in bugs the next morning...local soldiers returning from war.
Take care and be well
Doug Gill

I loved looking at this site. My husband's gggrandmother was Juliett Hunt, who was born in Whitehall in 1822. She married Franklin Miner, who was born in French Canada about 1818 and worked on the rivers and Lake Champlain. They travelled west during the gold rush. If anyone knows any more about these families, I'd love to hear from you.

I enjoyed your book "Lyon Mountain" very much. I really appreciate your thorough research of our town as it was never revealed to us in High School where I graduated from Lyon Mountain High (1970) before going to the Naval Academy at Annapolis. I served 20 years as a Navy pilot and can remember the fond years playing basketball, baseball and soccer for Coach Hamilton. My dad Clemens worked in the mines and i can still remember the blasting and the pounding from that mine.
Again thank you for your writing an informative and well- written book.

Hey Bro.....Just read "OLIVERS WAR". This was a two(2)day read for me. I am certainly not a "reader", so this was pretty amazing. The story is so interesting it held me right up to the end....I hated to see the end coming cuz I don't read often and this was so well written. What an amazing story. I can't believe nothing has been written about it before. All the way through this I was thinking this would make great movie material. Anyway, just wanted to let you know how good I think this book is. This is one book I'm going to re-read. Great job....from your bro in NH, ......Skipp

So glad I ran across this website! My family hisotry includes surnames Brunell and D'Aoust from Lyon Mt./Dannemora area; but I have little to no information about them. I plan on ordering both books about Lyon Mt. If anyone has any information on the above surnames, please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks so much. Keep up the good work on the site!

My father Mike grew up in Lyon Mountain (class of 69. I remember going up there as a kid and going into all the old mine buildings, sleding down the sandpile in the winter. I was just up there again this past week , this time for my Grandfather Tony Shusda Funeral. It was great to see how much he was liked by everyone in the town. It's a wonderful small town and I can see why my Grandparents loved living there so much. The town has a lot of history and a lot of great people still living there.
